Any god that needs to be defended is not much of a god is it?
Answer:
God does not NEED to be defended. He is perfect and lacking nothing. In fact, He didn’t NEED to create the universe, but He did it out of love—the same way a parent doesn’t NEED to adopt a child, but they want to out of love. A parent doesn’t need to sacrifice their own life for their child, but they want to out of love.
1 Peter 3:15 says, “but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you."
Philippians 1:7 says, “For it is only right for me to feel this way about you all, because I have you in my heart, since both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers of grace with me."
Titus 1:9 says, “He must have a strong belief in the trustworthy message he was taught; then he will be able to encourage others with wholesome teaching and show those who oppose it where they are wrong.”
Again, God does not need us to defend Him, but clearly He wants us to. I can personally attest to the fact that while learning how to defend Jesus Christ, my character and communion with Him has grown. There is definitely value in it and virtue that comes out of it.
