Countless books have been written and debates are endless over Calvinism vs Arminianism.   A major crux of the Calvinism vs Arminianism debate is over predestination/the "elect."  My simple take on the matter is this: While all who are elected are saved, not all who are saved are elected. In other words, God as Commander-in-Chief of His spiritual army ELECTS generals, admirals, and captains to serve a distinctive roll in His spiritual army, but this army is open for anyone to enlist (many don't want to enlist--and God won't make them--and others will quit in the middle of boot camp).
